We must search the Scriptures deliberately, consistently, and intensely. We must seek God’s wisdom as we would search for precious silver or priceless artifacts.
When I first became a Christian, I started listening to Charles Swindoll. His passion for the word of God and his balance of truth and grace kept me a listener and encouraged me in my walk with the Lord. To love Him more and serve to further the kingdom. Searching The Scriptures, Swindoll takes our need of food as in preparing, planning and enjoying the feast as a parallel to searching the scriptures. What does bible study look like? How do we read the bible? What is application?
Each chapter reads to encourage you to hunger for the word. To respond to the word. And to apply the word. He walks you thru each step with verses so that we may experience that Aha moment. Just as a good well prepared meal gives us satisfaction, so does a serious minded student of the word of God. There is work to read and study the word of God. Because relationships take effort, it is not for the faint of heart or for the one who is lazy. It should however, compel us to want and desire more.
Good stuff to digest and leaving you wanting more.
