A secret that’s been kept for thirty years…Events, years after they’ve happened, leave faint fingerprints that linger and change the surface of places over time.

Detective Gemma Monroe has been fighting the monster of her dreams ever since she discovered the bones of 2 young boys that disappeared over 30 years ago. Now pregnant and her partner miles away from Colorado in Alaska, the case as reopened with the death of another missing young man that was presumed dead but 3 years later was brutally murdered. The family must come to terms and rebury their son once again. But questions remain. Why did he deliberately disappear without a word to his family? Why was his appearance drastically changed? And who would with deliberate malice, murder him?

Monroe ties the murder to the disappearance of the two boys and bites off more than she can chew. Will she survive what she finds. Will the quaint ski town be able to face the secrets that are well hidden?

I was completely enthralled with Monroe. She was contemplative and the narrative was meticulous with the plot from start to finish. You felt like you were in State of Colorado, high in the Rockies, uncovering the secrets the secrets of the small town.
