The life-altering event of that day followed her everywhere. Even on occasions calling for celebration, it was a tenacious companion that spoiled her enjoyment. Nothing she did was free of its influence. It had dictated every major decision. Much had been sacrificed to it. Now, because of those few fateful moments, she was sequestered and under the guard of federal law enforcement officers. Her future was uncertain, her life in jeopardy.

You always know when you have a good book and you are in the middle of reading others, drop those (for the time being) just to finish this one. I get to the point where there is no return to other books that I am reading and I have to finish THE ONE. I can only read about 3 books at time and they have to be different genres so I don’t get confused. But I regress…This was an exciting read that had my heart a fluttering.

You have the heroine of Jordie Bennett who is at the wrong place at the wrong time fearing for her life. A successful businesswoman who has always watched out for her younger brother Josh who has used his genius smarts for evil. Jordie received a phone call that lands her at a shady bar where she is instantly attracted to Shaw Kinnard who has been hired along with his partner to kill Jordie for the sins of her brother. Josh is in the protective custody of the Federal government to take out Josh’s partner in crime Billy Panella .

However, the hit has changed and Jordie finds herself in the mercy of Shaw Kinnard. Trying to stay alive and outwit Kinnard, circumstances change where they have to trust each other. You don’t want to give anything away, because what makes this read golden are the surprises that hit you from beginning to end.
