Prayer of Lament
Lord, you have made a world that is full of beauty and wonder.
You have allowed us to know, to know your love and goodness and for that, we worship you.
Yet, we know that the world is not the way it was meant to be. Sin, death, and suffering about, and for this we cry – Have mercy, O God.
For those who suffer injustice and oppression – Have mercy, O God.
For those who daily walk in fear because of the color of their skin – Have mercy O God
For those who labor for justice – Have mercy O God
For those who give their lives in service to their community – Have mercy, O God
For those who have lost loved ones, or whose family has been torn apart by sin – Have mercy, O God
For those who are angry and undone – Have mercy, O’God
Teach us to weep with those who weep. To show compassion for those who mourn, and to move courageously toward those in need.
God our Maker, Christ our healer, Spirit our Comforter. Be near to us in this broken world Amen.
Prayed and worshiped this at church on Sunday. It leaves me to reflect on how am I resisting redemption for others by my attitudes, deeds, and my self-absorption. God is doing a work, we only have to open our hearts and respond with the Gospel.
