The Promise of Forgiveness is the promise of releasing your fear to love and be loved again.
Ruby and her daughter Mia are starting over again. Leaving Missouri and making a stop at a small oil town of Unforgiven where her biological father lives. A father she does not know and as far as she is concerned, does not want to know but curiosity has taken hold of her. She has made many bad decisions when it comes to relationship and it is now it is reflecting in her daughter’s life as well. To be quite honest, it should not be surprising…our children can be a reflection of what is going on in our messed up hearts. Ruby’s heart has taken a beating. Not able to trust and not able to commit, she believes herself to be unworthy and unable to have a healthy relationship. However, her father Hank knows he does not deserve her forgiveness but he has taken to his granddaughter’s heart. It is this relationship she witness the heart of her father and starts to see her own heart as well.
The characters came alive for me in this read as Ruby struggles with her fear and her bad choices and how she believed that a healthy relationship was not possible for her. The breaking down of walls and the rebuilding of relationships always speaks to my own heart.
